Abstract

The article is devoted to the 155th anniversary of the birth of Perm vice-Governor Vladimir Ivanovich Europeus. In the study, the task was set to find out which of the persons presented in the two photographs under the same surname, really is Europaus. The true image of the Permian vice-governor was established by the method of comparative-exclusive analysis; the reason for the occurrence of this historical error was clarified and analyzed. The study is based on archival and photographic documents, published for the first time, discussion materials, memoirs, opinions of archivists, historians and ethnographers, as well as field work of the authors.
