Abstract

The results of the conference held on May 29-31, 2018 in Perm on the initiative of the Photonics Laboratory of the Perm Federal Research Center of the Ural Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences are presented. The key aspects of the past event are described including the leading scientific schools, themes of sectional meetings and basic statistic information of the conference. The presentation of optical reflectometry as a scientific direction adapted for non-technical specialists is given. This allows the reader to get acquainted with the results of the previous conference, as well as with the received primary idea about the described scientific direction. The authors draw conclusions about the problems and prospects of optical reflectometry in Russia.
