Abstract

The aim of this project is theoretical study of the behavior of the interface in non-uniform force fields: the study of the influence of an electric field and vibrations on (1) the behavior of drops (bubbles) on a substrate, taking into account the contact line dynamics, (2) the formation and separation of a gas bubble, and (3) the stability of a fluid-vapor surface in film boiling. The effect of a uniform, as well as a non-uniform alternating electric field on the oscillations of a hemispherical drop, located on the substrate and a cylindrical drop (gas bubble), was studied. Linear stability of theground state of the interface: fluid - vapor of sub-cooled film boiling was considered based on overall heat and mass transfer equations. The interface was under a modulated gravity field caused by vertical vibrations of the heater, and the electric field which was applied along the normal to the surface.
