ARCHAEOZOOLOGICAL MATERIALS OF ROZHDESTVENSKOYE SETTLEMENT (ANALYSIS OF ANIMAL BONES FROM DIFFERENT EXCAVATIONS)

85.000 bone remains have been studied from the excavations of Rozhdestvenskoye settlement (58º 30΄N 56º 14΄E) dating back to the 10-14 centuries AD. The analysis of the composition and set of animal bones from different parts of the settlement has been performed. Some differences between them were established, which reflect the diversity of functional significance of the settlement’s parts. The analysis of fish, birds, wild and domestic mammals bones ratio was carried out, as well as of domestic ungulates bones ratio. Definable and indefinable animal bones for sampling from the excavations of different years have also been analyzed. The fauna is dominated by domestic animals and in its turn the cattle and horse do it among them. The moose and beaver dominate among wild mammals.
