Abstract

The present study deals with numerical modeling of the viscoplastic deformation of a rod leant against a smooth solid wall at one end and subjected to an elastic (longitudinal) collision at the other end. A one-dimensional problem is considered. A numerical method that takes into account a change in the cross-sectional areas of the rod during the impact is proposed. The method allows us to solve the problem with one, two or more boundaries between the rigid zone and the viscoplastic one. The numerical simulation results are presented.
